For Andover, there are two Retirement Boards, Andover Retirement Board and Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (for teachers only). Both boards control pension eligibility, administer the plans and manage pension assets for town and school retirees. (Neither board is accountable to Andover taxpayers or its elected officials.)

Current Pension Recipients (excluding Teachers*)
* Teachers have their own pension system: the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS.) It is a contributory system run by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Town of Andover does not contribute to the MTRS. Other school personnel such as secretaries are covered under the Town's contributory retirement system.
